Henna Brows - How Long Do They Last?
We are often asked how long Henna Brows last.
The answer to this question is not straightforward, as the durability depends on various factors. Generally, though, we can provide an estimate of how long the color lasts on the skin and on eyebrow hairs:
General Durability of Henna Brows:
- On eyebrow hairs: up to 6 weeks
- On the skin: up to 3 weeks
The durability, however, varies from person to person based on individual factors.
Factors Affecting Henna Brows Durability:
- Skin Type
- Preparation before dyeing with Brow Henna
- Directly after treatment
- Daily Care & Routine
1) Skin Type and Henna Brows Durability
Generally, Brow Henna lasts shorter on very oily skin compared to combination or dry skin, as henna and oil are natural enemies. For oily skin, more frequent touch-ups may be required.
Tip for oily skin: Use additional eyebrow powder, like this eyebrow powder, to keep the eyebrows looking full even if the color no longer adheres to the skin!
2) Preparation before Henna Dyeing
Proper preparation of the eyebrows influences Henna Brows’ durability. The skin should be well cleansed and free of dead skin cells before dyeing. We recommend this eyebrow scrub, specifically developed for preparing Henna Brows.
Note: The final cleansing step before dyeing should be oil-free, as henna color will not adhere to oily skin. For oily skin, we also recommend degreasing the eyebrows, for example, by wiping them with an alcohol-soaked cotton pad.
3) Directly after Treatment
After treatment with henna eyebrow dye, it is best to let the skin rest for a while.
Tips after Brow Henna Dyeing:
- Do not apply makeup on eyebrows
- Do not apply cream on eyebrows
- Avoid hot showers (reopens pores)
- Avoid sauna visits (reopens pores)
- Avoid facial treatments
If a facial treatment is needed, it should be done before the Henna application.
4) Daily Routine & Care
To extend the durability of the henna color, avoid getting oily products on the eyebrows.
Tips for Daily Routine:
- Use oil-free makeup remover wipes (or avoid using them on eyebrows)
- Use oil-free makeup removers (or avoid using them on eyebrows)
- Avoid applying exfoliants on the eyebrows
- Do not apply oil-based creams on eyebrows
Note: As the skin continuously renews itself, Henna Brows naturally have a limited lifespan. However, with age, the renewal process slows down, so Henna Brows may last longer. Aging does have its perks! ;-)
